Good to know: Wednesday has no evening drive. The core zones rest from July to September. Holi and Diwali are full holidays.
What Happens at Turia Gate
- Your jeep picks you up from the hotel and drives to the gate.
- Show your permit and the same original ID you gave while booking.
- A forest guide gets into your jeep. This is the rule.
- The gate opens and jeeps go in on set routes.
- Your drive lasts about 4 hours. You come out by the exit time.
Phones stay outside the core. Keep a camera if you like, but no mobile phone in the core zone.
Turia vs Karmajhiri vs Jamtara
Turia
Most jeeps every day. Good for tigers and leopards. Hotels are close. Sells out first.
Karmajhiri
Fewer jeeps, calm forest. Closer to Seoni, about 50 km.
Jamtara
Small zone on the eastern side. Hardly any traffic. Closer to Chhindwara.
Can’t get Turia? Try Karmajhiri or Jamtara on the same day. You may also try the Teliya buffer zone next to Turia. It is quick to book.

Tips for Turia Gate
- Carry a warm jacket for winter mornings. Dawn can be close to 1°C in January.
- In summer, carry a cap, scarf and water. Roads are dusty.
- Wear khaki, olive or brown. Avoid bright colours.
- Stay seated and quiet when animals are near.
- Book 2 or 3 drives. More drives mean more chances to see a tiger.

Is there a canter safari from Turia Gate?
Yes. Pench canters leave from Turia Gate. Canter seats open one day before at 2 PM.
Is Turia Gate open on Wednesday?
Only the morning drive runs on Wednesday. There is no evening drive. The park is also shut on Holi and Diwali.
Is Turia the best zone in Pench?
Turia gets the most jeeps and is known for good tiger and leopard sightings. Karmajhiri and Jamtara are calmer. No zone can promise a tiger.
Can I book a Turia safari at the gate?
Don’t count on it. Turia is the first Pench zone to sell out. Book ahead, or ask us to check Tatkal seats.
Is Turia Gate in Maharashtra?
No. Turia Gate is on the Madhya Pradesh side of Pench. Sillari and Khursapar gates are on the Maharashtra side, which is a separate park.
